Hot summer weather has us craving a sweet, frozen treat – but without all the calories and sugar of ice cream! Sorbets are the perfect answer for this all too common summertime dilemma. While ice cream is made with dairy products and air whipped in to create texture, sorbets contain only fruit puree and sometimes a sweetener.
The result is a dense and tremendously flavorful snack or dessert that also happens to be low-sugar, low-fat, and low-calorie. Strawberry sorbet is an especially great choice, as these naturally sweet, fat-free berries eliminate the need for extra sugar and contain only 50 calories per one cup serving. Enjoy this treat poolside, lounging in a hammock with an ocean breeze, or simply sitting at the kitchen table with the AC blowing in your face. There’s no wrong way to sorbet!
