How to Make Strawberry Hearts

Equipment

  • small, wooden sticks

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh strawberries medium to large
  • 2 cups dark or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Rinse and gently pat dry fresh strawberries.
  • With a small, sharp knife, in a circular motion, carve out the stem of the strawberry. See image above.
  • Slice the strawberry in half.
  • At the top center of each of berry half, cut a small V-shape.
  • Gently insert a wooden stick at the bottom of the heart shape.
  • Heat chocolate chips in microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Dip strawberries in melted chocolate. Let dry on parchment paper until chocolate firms.

I have a question, can we use chocolate bars instead of chocolate chips?

Hi there. Yes, you can also melt chocolate bars (like Hershey). Basically any chocolate that has a high cocoa butter content. Enjoy!

This recipe is so simple, yet so pretty and special. We drizzled white chocolate overtop as well, to add an extra decorative touch. These treats were a real hit with our group. As an added bonus they are healthy as well!!
